Timothy Whitmarsh is the A. G. Leventis Professor of Greek Culture at the University of Cambridge. He has also held professorships in the universities of Oxford and Exeter, and a visiting professorship at the University of Chicago. He has written for the Times Literary Supplement, the London Review of Books, the Guardian, the Observer and the Huffington Post, and has appeared on BBC TV and radio. He lives in Cambridge with his partner Emily, and has two children.
