The world’s most cited academic geographer, David Harvey is Distinguished Professor of Anthropology at the City University of New York Graduate School and former Professor of Geography at Johns Hopkins and Oxford Universities. He was awarded the Patron’s Medal of the Royal Geographical Society in 1995 and elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2007. He is the author of numerous books, including The Condition of Postmodernity (Wiley, 1991) which was named by the Independent as one of the fifty most important non-fiction works since WWII, and The Enigma of Capital (Oxford University Press, 2010).
In his latest book, David Harvey returns to the foundations of all of his work, dissecting and interrogating the fundamental illogic of our economic system, as well as giving us a look at how human societies are likely to evolve in a post-capitalist world. Seventeen Contradictions and The End of Capitalism will be published by Oxford University Press in April 2014.
